![]() So, ATT is similar to open ended multiplayer sandbox games like Minecraft but with far less player customization possibility with most of the customization power given to server host/admins. There is no one, kindergarten teacher, directing how and what the kids should play. A slide on the other side with a jungle gym in the center. It is not even a theme park with big attractions. Looking at the frontend, ATT is basically a neighborhood playground. Thus, quality of the play in each world/server is very varied. Overall, it is very decentralized in administration. This is the same with ATT other than ATT provides far less player customization with the Worlds/Servers. These rooms are either clone rooms of existing rooms or custom rooms made by players. In RecRoom, rather than having unified Worlds/Servers where the developer administers play, players explore numerous Worlds/Servers formed and administered by other players. Looking at the backend, ATT is similar to social games such as RecRoom. Other problem with ATT is the lack of content development but let’s not go there right now. One of the problems with ATT is that players come in expecting a MMORPG but they don’t get that. And you can see this with the developer’s messaging confusion. So, what is ATT? It gets somewhat difficult to say in simple terms. But saying ATT is more RPG themed would be more objective. It does have some common RPG mechanics and concepts implemented but none of them are particularly deep or detailed. ![]() It does not have stories or even proper Quests. That is Not “Massive”! So, ATT is more of a MO (multiplayer online).Įven though the definition of RPG has been blurred over the years, it is still difficult to classify ATT as an RPG. The PCVR version does not have a hard limit but once you get about 2 dozen or more players at a time, lag becomes noticeable. ![]() And even that gets a bit laggy when it is full. ![]() The Quest version of ATT has a hard limit of 8 players at a time. MMO is short for Massively multiplayer online. Since that term is actually long, let’s break it down. “A Township Tale” or shortened to ATT is NOT an MMORPG! ![]()
